On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the big statue of Sardar Patel aka the Iron Man of India. The statue is 182 meters tall and is named as the statue of Unity.
The Statue of Unity which is the memorial to Sardar Patel is situated in Kevadiya and is touted as the world’s tallest statue. At the inauguration ceremony, Narendra Modi poured soil and Narmada water into a ‘Kalash’ to mark the dedication of the statue.

In an article, PM Modi wrote,
“The “Statue of Unity” is a symbol of both the unity of hearts and the geographical integrity of our motherland. It is a reminder that divided, we may not be even able to face ourselves. United, we can face the world and scale new heights of growth and glory”.Source: ndtv
Sardar Patel who was a veteran administrator has done so many good deeds for our country. He did exceptional works for the betterment of Ahmedabad. Today, if one appreciates India for its vibrant cooperative sector, a large part of the credit goes to Sardar Patel.
Statue is a tribute to Sardar Patel
Modi said that the Statue of Unity is a reminder to those who question the existence of India. ‘India was eternal, is eternal and will always remain eternal,’ he said. The Rs 2,389 crore statue is a tribute to Sardar Patel who played a significant role in integrating the princely states into the Indian Union after the 1947 partition.
Statue of Unity as a tourist spot
The Gujarat state tourism department has already started advertising it as one of its attractions for visitors. The Gujarat government has built a 3-star hotel, shopping centre and a research centre in the Sardar Patel statue complex.
Not only this Gujrat government has also built high-speed elevators that will take its visitors to a height of about 400 feet through the core of the statue where you can get a scenic view of the surroundings. Furthermore, for those who want to click pictures, the complex also has a separate selfie point from where you get a good view of the statue and its surroundings.
From this Saturday, one can book online ticket for the Sardar Patel statue. Tickets are priced at Rs 350 per person, and for kids below the age of 3, entry is free.
