Rafael Nadal continues his impressive run at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters 2018. The Spaniard defeated Dominic Thiem in the last-8 round convincingly to book a place in the Semi-Finals. World No. 1 beat 5th seed Thiem 6-0, 6-2 in straight sets.

Earlier in the tournament, the Austrian Dominic Thiem ended former World No.1 Novak Djokovic’s journey after a hard-fought battle. Recovering from a set down, Thiem came back strongly to beat Djokovic 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-3 in the last 16-round.

Nadal will now face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the Semifinals. 4th seed Dimitrov defeated David Goffin 6-4, 7-6 in the last-8 round, to confirm his spot in the Semi-Finals.

After the victory, Nadal described the win as one of the best matches he has ever played on the clay court.

 

Other matches of the last-8 round:

Unseeded Kei Nishikori overcame second seed Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-7 (1), 6-3 to make it through to the Semis. Kei will battle it out against Alexander Zverev in the Semifinals.

3rd seed Zverev beat Richard Gasquet 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the last-8 round to settle a fight with Kei in the last four.
