On the 1st day of the year, the Indian cinema lost a legend, Kadar Khan who died at 81. In his career, Kadar Khan has entertained us with his brilliant acting skills in more than 200 films. Kadar was also a versatile actor. He was not only a great comedian but also appeared as a villain, sometimes as a father and also played many serious roles in many movies such as Loha, Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni, Mr and Mrs Khiladi.
Kadar Khan was born in the year 1937
Kadar Khan was born in the year 1937 in Afghanistan, Kabul and was an Afghan-born Canadian citizen. Before entering in movies Khan enrolled his career as a professor in M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering in Mumbai. Later when he was noted by Dilip Kumar in a play in the college where he acted very well, Dilip Kumar then recognized his acting talent and signed up for his next movie. He started his career in films in the 70s. In Kadar Khan’s first movie we have seen him with Rajesh Khanna. He has also done many movies with Amitabh Bachchan such as Shahenshah, Coolie, Family: Tiles of Blood. In the 90s there was a popular comedy Jodi of Govinda and Kadar Khan where they both have acted in many comedy movies and have made us laugh such as Coolie No.1, Haasena Maan Jayeegi etc.
A famous actor as well as a dialogue writer
Kadar Khan was not only a famous Bollywood actor but was also a dialogue writer where we wrote dialogues for more than 200 movies.
6 years ago in 2013, he won Sahitya Shiromani Award for his work and contributions to Hindi Film industry and Cinema and in 1982: Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue for Meri Awaaz Suno, then in 1991: Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri and in1993: Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue for Angaar.
Ever since Khan debut in Bollywood, we have seen him in many movies appearing in versatile characters. But the sad fact is that one has to accept that this legend is no more with us. He died in Toronto, Canada at the age of 81.
It has been a long time we haven’t seen him acting in any movie and recently not long ago he was shifted to a hospital because of prolonged illness. Kadar Khan was admitted in a vegetative state. Kadar Khan’s news of the death was confirmed by his son.
On an interview with TOI his son stated
“My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into coma in the afternoon. And he was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks.
The last rites will be performed here in Canada only. We have our entire family here we live here so we are doing it”,
We are thankful to everyone for their blessings and prayers”.
Kadar Khan was a popular face of the Indian cinema but with great sadness, this has to be accepted that he is no more with us and none can replace this legend.
