In the early hours of 26th Feb, 2019 Indian Air Force dropped 1000 kg bomb at Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad Pakistan at 03:30 Am and destroyed the terrorist camps. They gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani terrorist attack on 14th February in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
It is exactly after 12 days of that attack, when Indian Air Force courageously crossed the LoC with multiple jets including the IAF’s Mirage 2000 and dropped 1,000 kg at the launch pads of terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Indian Air Force destroys Jaish-e-Mohammed
According to the sources, not only the terrorist group of Jaish-e-Mohammed but also other terrorist launchpads that was there in Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad were completely destroyed in this air strikes.
Official word expected later today but my educated guess is IAF Mirages would have used 500 kg laser-guided bombs to hit target(s) in Balakot, KPK.— Nitin A. Gokhale (@nitingokhale) February 26, 2019
After the airstrike, Prime Minister Modi chaired a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security which was attended by finance minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, home minister Rajnath Singh and Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Foreign Minister Vijay Gokhale’s measured statement on Balakot
After the Pulwama attack, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the armed forces have been given full freedom to respond to the strike.
As India now confirms the air strike inside Pakistan (and not POJK), important to remember that in the immediate aftermath of the 26/11 attacks, IAF had offered similar option. But Manmohan Singh had demurred. The IAF always had the capability, it needed political will to do this— Nitin A. Gokhale (@nitingokhale) February 26, 2019
This IAF operation has reportedly killed a large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and groups of jihadi who were being trained for multiple fidayeen attacks on India.
‘Dropped payload’ has to be the nicest way to say ‘bombed the shit out of’.— Shiv Aroor (@ShivAroor) February 26, 2019
If this is Balakote in KPK it’s a major incursion & a significant strike by IAF planes. However if it’s Balakote in Poonch sector, along the LoC it’s a largely symbolic strike because at this time of the year forward launch pads & militant camps are empty & non-functional.— Omar Abdullah (@OmarAbdullah) February 26, 2019
Indian public is really ecstatic with this action of IAF. On the other hand a shell shocked Pakistani army accepted that the Indian Air Force violated the Line of Control (LoC) but said no casulties happened.
Pakistan Military spokesman accepts ingrees by IAF
Pakistan’s Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISRO), Major-General Asif Ghafoor tweeted,
“Indian aircraft intruded from Muzafarabad sector. Facing timely and effective response from Pakistan Air Force released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot. No casualties or damage”.

The IAF attack was an appropriate response to the ghastly 14 February suicide attack by Pakistan based terrorist group which itself had taken the responsibility of that attack where 40 CRPF soldiers were killed.
According to unconfirmed reports, Indian army has shot dead spy drone in Gujarat.
Reactions from prominent Indians and Pakistanis
This makes #Surgicalstrike2 even more audacious. The Indian Air Force hit a terrorist camp deep inside Pakistan proper, not in POK. Amazing for the brave pilots to achieve this and return without a scratch! https://t.co/gGm7Y0XvQ8— Vikram Chandra (@vikramchandra) February 26, 2019
Sources confirm that the biggest JeM training camp that India struck today was the one in Balakot, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.— Suhasini Haidar (@suhasinih) February 26, 2019
Great job by the IAF. And great choice of words by govt "non-military preemptive action against terrorists (and not against Pak)". Makes it difficult for Pak to escalate. Josh and Hosh both on display. Very well done. #IndianAirForce #IndiaStrikesBack— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) February 26, 2019
Many thanks to @IAF_MCC for hitting terror outfits in Balakot of Mansehra, PAK. The area has been known to have the so- called Jihadi Training Camps since era of Zia-ul-Haq. Its a fight Against Terror, No one else! #IndiaStrikesBack— Tawab Ghorzang (@TawabGhorzang1) February 26, 2019
