Importance of Gender Equality:
Gender equality is a prime point to develop the country. The meaning of these words can be seen in the picture of the countries with human and gender rights issues and Nordic countries. Gender inequality does not stand for stealing the opportunity of men or making them inferior. It is a concept about providing women and girls in the society fair and equal access to education, labor market, in the political and economic decision making. Gender equality is a development, a step towards the advancing societies towards a sustainable development.
In this era of external beauty and technology, the globe has to step a step higher in balancing the gender gap. But the fact cannot be denied that the idea of gender equality is under ratted as well as underestimated. If a question arises why women and girls face discrimination on basis of gender, which itself is a term constructed by the society, why females face discrimination despite having good professional skills, degree, we hardly have a logical answer.
The prime reason behind is the misunderstanding of the core ideology of feminism. If you ask my opinion feminism is not about giving advantages to women. Feminism stands for a freedom of choice. But positive thing is that apart from the laggards the younger generation nowadays is trying to understand the meaning of the ideology.
If a lady decides to be an academician or if she wants to be a sportsperson or a politician the female should be granted chances and same applies to men. It’s is all about creating a balance. And does not matter how much you talk about economy, politics and all if you want a different scenario in these aspects, the focus has to be given to society. Because society is the core. And with the advent of the globalization gender equality plays a strong role in development. There is nothing like women issue, it is a fight for equality to unite all of us.
The understanding of feminism and gender equality is the need of the hour. Academic definition or it’s better to say description goes, “gender equality, is the state of equal ease of access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender, including economic participation and decision-making; and the state of valuing different behaviours, aspirations and needs equally, regardless of gender.
A Clearer View:
To be more precise gender equality does not only limit to only two genders it also included the transgender. All are free to progress in their personal abilities, they can make choices without any hindrance on the basis of various stereotypes, gender roles, and prejudices.
Actually, the whole world has understood the importance of gender equality in the society and it has become an issue since the mid-20th century. A lot of international organizations have made an effort to reach the desired results.
Every single time a male think that gender equality is for demeaning their existence there is a need for the “Gender Equality” again and again. No single gender can survive in this world alone does not matter how much we rely on technology. Thousand “Sofias” will be there in the upcoming years so does the robot of other gender but that won’t lessen importance person with flesh and blood.
At last, it can be said that “Gender equality” is a term for which everybody in the society should be concerned. All people should be given equal responsibilities, and opportunities regardless of gender.
