India has so many strange laws that are not only weird but also make no sense in the current social scenario. Most of these laws made when India was ruled by the British. Strange Indian laws
1. Attempting suicide is a crime
Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code says that it is legal to commit suicide. But if one fails to die, then the person will be punished according to law. So, if one is planning to commit suicide, then the person must plan it carefully because if he fails to die, punishment is waiting for him.
2. Penalty For Third Child In Kerala
Kerala Government has a strict child policy to control population growth in the state. To enforce the two-child policy in the state, the government of the state has imposed a penalty of Rs. 10,000 on the couple who have a third child.
3. Different states have a different age for alcohol consumption
In India, there is no uniform legal drinking age for all the states. In states like Goa, UP, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Puducherry, the right age for alcohol consumption according to the law is 18, and for Maharashtra, it is 25.
4. Home Delivery Of Alcoholic Beverage Is not legal, but Home Delivery Of Wine And beer is Legal In Delhi
According to the Delhi government, the resident of the state is not allowed to order an alcoholic beverage from home. You have to buy it from your nearby shop. Nevertheless, it is legal to order beer and wine to be delivered to your home.
5. Only good teeth allow you to be a motor Vehicle inspector in Andra Pradesh
To become a motor vehicle inspector in Andhra Pradesh, a candidate must have Good Teeth. This is a little weird, but healthy and beautiful teeth are one of the primary conditions for the job of a motor vehicle inspector in Andhra Pradesh.
6. No Indian soldiers other than Nagaland army can use knives during combats
One more crazy law. Indian soldiers cannot use knives during combats. However, soldiers from Nagaland can fight with the knives. The Arms act prohibits any weapon which has a sharp edge and able to give fatal injuries. However, it is legally okay to carry a knife under 9″ long and 2″ wide. Under the Indian Arms Act 1959, a soldier is not allowed to carry “prohibited arms”.
7. Indian Telegraph Act
In India, telegram service does not exist anymore; still we Indian has The Telegraph Act, that was passed by the British government in 1885.
8. Internet Censorship
With a humongous number of websites showing offensive and obscene contents, it is not possible for the Indian Government to enforce a law to stop web users from visiting X-rated sites. But India has a mandate for censoring the internet.
9. Reservation rules unacceptable
In India, this is the weirdest and unacceptable law which is the Reservation law. We Indian do not have equality because of this. This rule led to violence in so many cities which caused so many deaths and loss of money. In India, at present, the reservations depend upon one’s caste, gender and even religion. However the law has often been misused by people who do not need the perks, and in turn, the deserving candidates have to suffer.
10. Laws for recruitment as an Indian pilot
One more crazy law. If any Indian wants to be a pilot, then the person must know about this rule. A primary requirement of the Indian Air Force is that the size of the pilot’s legs should be a minimum of 90cm. Don’t you find this weird?
