BWF World Championship 2018: India’s badminton sensation Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth showed a superb exhibition of skill and dominance in the ongoing Badminton World championship being held at Nanjing, China. Srikanth defeated Spanish Pablo Abian 21-15, 12-21, 21-14 to advance to the 3rd round.
The 5th seed Indian defeated unseeded Spaniards in a space of 1 hour and 2 minutes. Among the other Indians, HS Prannoy will meet Ygor Coelho in the second round.
In the women’s singles, Saina Nehwal also progressed to the 3rd round after sealing a victory over Turkey’s Aliye Demirbag. Saina defeated the Turkish 21-17, 21-8. She will now face 4th seed Indonesian Ratchanok Intanon in the 3rd round.
The Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu, who was handed a bye in the first round, will face World No. 37 Fitriani Fitriani in the second round.
