We are living in the fourth generation wireless network where we get speedy data transfer and better-uninterrupted mobile and internet connectivity. But in spite of seamless network, the world is all set for 5th Generation network connectivity. Hence, it will make wireless digital communication 50 times faster. Many health experts suggested that it may be harmful to us as well.
Therefore, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland announced their plan to create the world’s first interconnected 5G region.
On the other hand, India has set up a high-level forum to establish the vision for 5G in the country and plans to begin trials by 2020.
5G for artificial intelligence (AI)
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) based technologies could not function fast due to slow and lack of superfast data transfer. The latest example of such technology includes autonomous vehicles that are driverless smart cars.
Well, in order to operate such vehicles a superfast data transfer with minimal delay (a latency as low as 1 millisecond) is required.
Henceforth, 5G is being architected to support all such low-latency applications, including industrial robots to remote surgery.
5G can actually trouble your health
However, the use of 5G may lead to several health issues.
The WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in its studies in 2011 said that the wide range of RF-EMF radiations (from 30 kilohertz to 300 gigahertz) can have an adverse effect on humans, rats as the radiations are “possibly carcinogenic to humans”.
The Cesare Maltoni Cancer Research Centre of the Ramazzini Institute in Italy published a 13-year long study that evaluated the effect of 1.8 GHz RF-EMF radiation on the incidence of heart schwannomas and glioma in 2448 rats. Therefore, it found an increased incidence of the disease in them.
5G harmful to the planet, too
5G is not only a threat to humans but to the planet too as it affects environmental health in a number of ways. First, the high frequencies may pose a serious threat to plant health. A study in 2010 shows that the leaves of aspen seedlings exposed to RFR exhibited symptoms of necrosis.
The 5G infrastructure requires the deployment of many, short-lifespan satellites that has hydrocarbon rocket engines. The engines emit black carbon into the atmosphere. These rockets exhaust contains chlorine, an ozone-destroying chemical.
5G harmful to birds and bees
According to several reports over the last two decades–some of which are summarized here–low-level, non-ionizing microwave radiation affects bird and bee health. It drives birds from their nests and causes plume deterioration, locomotion problems, reduced survivorship and death. And bee populations suffer from reduced egg-laying abilities of queen bees and smaller colony sizes.
